Gospel musician shares her thought on VGMAs eliminating ‘Gospel Album of the year ‘category.
Charterhouse Ghana, the
organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in a press conference
yesterday in Accra stated categorically that they have not included ‘Gospel
Album of the Year’ category in this year’s awards because in the year under
review, not many albums were released, thus not advisable for its inclusion.
However, commenting on
the issue Gospel songstress Ewura Abena popularly known for her hit song ‘Agye Me Nkwa’ featuring Nacee said most
Gospel musicians just like any other musician in Ghana last year faced many production
challenges including ‘dumsor’ and general economic hardship.
She further added that
most Gospel musicians just like her, record their albums live and that fueling
a plant or generator to fast track production comes at a higher cost.
Ewura Abena who is
currently in the studio recording her third album suggested that the organizers
should be considerate on such issues when they come up in the future.
She also encouraged her
colleagues in the ministry to keep doing the sacrificial job they are doing for
humanity.
